About Acupuncture MD, LLC

I’m a native of Nebraska and grew up in Lincoln. I completed my medical school training in Omaha at the U. of Nebraska Medical Center, and 3 years post-graduate training in general surgery and family medicine. Coming out of residency I knew I wanted something different in terms of how I got to know my patients and take care of them.

My dream clinical practice

The 15-minute clinic visit frustrated me in training. I wanted to have more time to talk to patients, face to face, with no laptop or computer in the room. I also wanted to provide effective information and treatment plans for the problem(s) a patient has, and for those plans to make a difference. Basically a ‘dream clinic’.

What lead me to Acupuncture?

I had been an acupuncture patient in the past and when I first tried acupuncture, I remember thinking, ‘needles in the body, really how could that work versus medication?’. Following my 2nd treatment, instantaneously I felt relief and my symptoms were gone. I was amazed by this instant, gratifying therapeutic effect I had experienced. I quickly became intrigued and started learning more about acupuncture. I researched articles and studies on acupuncture in medicine and the effectiveness it has had. I enrolled in an acupuncture course designed specifically to train Physicians (MDs and DOs).

In 2019, I received certification in ‘Medical Acupuncture for Physicians’ through the Helms Medical Institute, accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME).

Post-training I still continue to learn as much as I can in acupuncture; currently I’m working towards obtaining board certification through the American Board of Medical Acupuncture (ABMA), and will be attending the American Academy of Medical Acupuncture (AAMA) Annual Symposium this April.
